We are thrilled to share that Ms. Caitlin Powell has accepted our invitation to serve as the next Head of School at Grace. She will begin in this role on January 16, 2023.
Ms. Powell is the current Director of The Beginning School at Trinity Episcopal School in Galveston, a leadership role in which she has served since 2021. She brings an impressive education forward with her into this new position, including a B.A. in Communications from Temple University and a Master’s in Education from Hunter College. Her nearly 10 years of experience in education is wide ranging, including certification and practice in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Special Education.
As a parent of two young children (both of whom will attend Grace in the Spring), a teacher, and an administrator, Ms. Powell has a keen sense of the importance of early childhood education. She understands that it is foundational to every child’s physical, emotional, mental and spiritual development.
Following a 6-month search process that began with parent and teacher input, the Head of School Search Committee recommended two wonderful finalist candidates to the School Board for consideration. We thank the many who participated in surveys and interviews. Your input and reflections were vital for the Board and Search Committee in defining priorities for Grace’s next Head of School. The final decision to call Ms. Powell, with input from parents, teachers and church leadership, was accepted by the Church Vestry and approved by The Rt. Rev. C. Andrew Doyle, Bishop of Texas.
